Abstract

Objectives: 1. To assess the obsessive compulsive symptoms among schizophrenic patients. 2. To find out the association between obsessive compulsive symptoms among schizophrenic patients with selected demographic variables. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted In KS.Hegde .Hospital, Nitte University. Data were collected by 60 schizophrenia in patients with the help of demographic Proforma, Y-BOCS checklist and Y-BOCS rating scale to assess obsessive compulsive symptoms. Results: The result shows that more than half of the 32 (53.3%) samples were screened to have obsessive compulsive symptoms with majority of them 20(33.3%) were having checking compulsion. Conclusion: Findings of this study can be used in the psychiatric nursing field which will help the psychiatric nurses to understand the co-existence of other disorders along with schizophrenia.
