Abstract

This paper aims to develop and elucidate the prewar case of Atami in Shizuoka Prefecture, where cottage subdivision development through small and medium capital was active. The development was promoted by external entities from entrepreneurs in Tokyo, with participants such as trading entrepreneurs, neighboring landowners, and land companies. Among these, the trading entrepreneurs and land companies were particularly well represented.
