Abstract

Waste management is managing, collecting, transporting, processing, recycling or disposing waste. This study sought to assess waste management in pharmaceuticals through descriptive observations. For this purpose, the prepared checklists during a period in November 2012were completed in one stage by referring to 21 factories in person. The results of this study show that in factories in Tehran separation, transportation, and temporary storage of waste processes within the factory were 89%, 73% and 72%, respectively and process of final waste disposal outside the factory with an average of 57% was higher than the average of the Ministry of Health. Wastes management assessment showed that in the pharmaceutical industry waste management processes is at relatively good conditions.
