Abstract

This paper aims to understand the role of Instant Gratification with the context of Patience, Self-control and Social Media. With the onset of Globalization and Technological revolution, one has fallen prey to the temptations of immediate reward, but in the long run, it may provide adverse outcomes in academical, interpersonal, professional and intrapersonal domains. Hence, this study was undertaken to measure the gravity of the situation at hand. The variables undertaken were Social Media Addiction, Self-Regulation and Patience, the former is directly related to Instant Gratification while the other two are inversely related. A generic questionnaire of twenty-nine items, covering all the three variables was formed and an online survey was conducted. The research found that females have a higher need for Instant Gratification vis-a-vis males.
