Abstract
Summary Our results demonstrate conclusively, as do those of Anselmino and Hoffman, that a substance which lowers the level of mouse liver glycogen, is present in the blood serum of pregnant women. This glycogen reduction indicates an increased level of thyroid hormone in the test material (pregnancy serum) injected. The evidence seems to indicate that this increase in thyroid hormone is due to an actual physiological hyperfunction of the thyroid gland of the mother during pregnancy.
