Abstract
A scanning spectropolarimeter has been constructed and used in a preliminary search for conspicuous features of the interstellar polarization curve betweenλ−1 = 1.58μ−1 and 2.50μ−1. The instrument was used at thef/4.5 prime focus of the 36″ telescope of the Cambridge University Observatories. Scans were made on HD2905, HD21389, α And and β Tau with slitwidths of 50 A and 100 A.
