Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of climate on the growth of apple fruits in Ireland. To reduce the limitations of a one year study, fruit growth measurements were made of several apple varieties grown under variable conditions of location, soil type, planting and training system, rootstock, nutritional level, tree age and crop load. Under these variable conditions, similar changes in fruit growth rate would likely be caused by some facet(s) of climate.
