Abstract
The psychic term νόος in the lyric poets, as in Homer, Hesiod, and the Homeric Hymns, seems best described as a ‘faculty capable of a number of psychological activities’. It functions as a seal of disposition, temperament, and character. Moral traits in particular are associated with it. Νόος, in others, especially reflects their true attitudes and thoughts. In this psychic entity an individual finds himself most authentically expressed.
