Abstract

In this study, the results of theoretical estimations of interaction between the particles of powder material and metal substrate at supersonic gas dynamic cold spraying are given. The first two stage of gas dynamic spraying were studied: the rapprochement of powder particles and substrate up to the distance of interatomic interaction and deformation of particles and substrate at the immediate contact. It was found that, in the majority of cases, particles exhibit plastic deformations at gas dynamic spraying. It leads to significant dissipation of the initial energy of particles and release of this energy in the form of heat.
