Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the electrospinning of a ternary system consisting of water, acetone, and poly(e-caprolactone) (PCL) in order to prepare bead/block-type nano/microfibres as innovative cell-growth scaffolds with potentially controllable drug-releasing capabilities. Experimental cloud point data were obtained by cloud point titration. The phase diagram for the ternary H2O–acetone–PCL system was determined from the cloud point data. The ternary phase diagram can be used to investigate the mechanism of fibre formation, which is unlike that of traditional electrospun fibres. Bead-like nano/microfibres of the given ternary system were successfully fabricated by electrospinning.
