Abstract

1. 1. The effect of folate deficiency on the incorporation rate of three amino acids into oviduct protein of oestrogen-treated immature chicks was examined. 2. 2. Oviduct tissue slices were incubated with [U- 14C] glycine, serine and leucine. 3. 3. Folate deficiency resulted in retarded oviduct growth response to oestrogen-stimulation and reduced incorporation rates of glycine and serine were observed, while the leucine incorporation rate was not affected.
