Abstract

The reactions 26Mg(p, t) 24Mg and 26Mg(p, 3He) 24Na were studied at an incident proton energy of 50 MeV. Transitions to the ground state, 1.37, 4.12 + 4.24, 6.00, 7.56 + 7.62 and 15.40 ( T = 2) MeV levels in 24Mg and the 1.34 and 5.9 ( T = 2) MeV levels in 24Na were observed. The excitation energy of the first T = 2 level in 24Na was measured and that of the first T = 2 level in 24Mg confirmed; the angular distributions of these two transitions were compared. All the observed transitions were analysed using the distorted-wave formalism.
