Abstract
Innovan ®, a mixture of fentanyl citrate and droperidol, possesses greater analgesic activity than is provided by fentanyl citrate alone. As the increase in analgesia is not paralleled by an increase in toxicity, the combination is desirable for use as adjuvants to nitrous oxide for general anesthesia. In other respects, each compound in the mixture exerts its own pharmacologic actions without any well-defined antagonistic or potentiating interactions.
