Abstract
The structure and properties of a magnesium alloy of theMg – Y – Gd – Zr system are studied. The kinetics of decomposition of the magnesium-base supersaturated solid solution is studied at 175, 200, 225, and 250°C and the mechanical properties of the alloy are determined at room and elevated (to 350°C) temperatures. A hot-pressed plate after aging for maximum hardening of the alloy exhibits high strength parameters both at room and elevated (to 300°C) temperatures.
