Abstract

This paper aims at simulating the multipath effect of EM scattering from low altitude target above large scale complex ocean surface. The complexity is reflected by the composite description of both large scale profile and small roughness structures of the ocean surface model. The scattering from ocean surface is calculated by a Modified Facet-based Two Scale Model. The model decomposed ocean surface into a mount of large and slightly rough facets with foam layer superimposed as the microscopic roughness. Specular and diffuse scattering from long and short waves are both involved by KA and SPM. The volume scattering from the foam layer is considered by Vector Radiative Transfer (VRT) theory. Simulations can agree well with the measurement results. Finally, Multipath scattering between target and ocean surface are invovled by an extended image theory.
