Abstract
Energy distributions of photons after Compton scattering of 279.2 keV gamma rays by K shell electrons of gold and tin have been determined by coincidence techniques involving the detection of K X-rays and the scattered gamma rays. The measured energy distributions extend from about 25 keV to higher energies including the quasi-Compton peak. A detailed study of possible secondary events has been made. Evidence for infrared divergence contribution in the case of gold has been presented.
