Abstract

In the past several decades, the Japanese multimedia communication industry has been a leading place in the world. Especially, it has a certain influence in the Asian region. It can be said to lead the trend, causing all walks of life to follow. Although in now Korean wave swept the world, Japan also keeps the creative value even then Korean have to learning with it. We have a study of four representative items of Japanese multimedia communication industry, such as advertising, drama, variety show and animation. The imitative or similar examples are compared with cultural style, innovation and charm in each field. In this study, we mainly use the methods of textual analysis and questionnaires to analyze the visual elements, narrative characteristics, marketing methods and role setting of the above four items through the case study. The results show as follows. (1) The shooting techniques and the innovation degree of commercial films are attended to follow around the world. (2) It is second to none in the vigorous development of the animation industry in the world. In the recent years, it is combined with 3D animation is a major breakthrough in innovation. (3) In spite of the Korean Dramas are recently influential in Asia, it still often appears best-selling works with the story and the popular music. (4) The variety shows of South Korea, Mainland China and Taiwan often imitate from Japan, because of its creative refreshing. Finally, according to the results of this survey, we propose some aspects are worth learning and improvement of the Japanese multimedia industry.
