Abstract

Summary Essential differences were not noted as regards volume of gastric secretion and output of acid in rats in which the secretion was drained continuously from the stomach, and rats in which it was allowed to accumulate in the stomach. Acute and chronic vagotomy were found to inhibit or abolish production of acid and to reduce greatly the volume of gastric secretion in the rat with pyloric ligation.
