Abstract

An efficient EMS system provides out-of-hospital emergency medical services for sick and injured patients and maximizes the ability to respond quickly to calls, transfer, provide timely treatment and save lives in the event of an emergency. In this paper, an EMS system consisting of multiple EMS stations and demand sites is studied. Rescue supplies such as ambulances are stored at each EMS site to meet the uncertain demand from the demand location. The planning and allocation of emergency medical service sites and site storage ambulance resources under uncertainty of emergency needs is studied.
