Abstract

The change of ultrasonic attenuation in Al–0.021 wt% Cu is studied. The results are difficult to explain with the point defect cloud model of Gremaud et al. Based on the results, the dependence of ultrasonic attenuation on the loop length of free dislocation segments between two pinning points is discussed and a new dislocation movement mechanism during push–pull fatigue is suggested.
