Abstract

The object of this study has been to note the effect of diets containing different amounts of nitrogen on cases of chronic nephritis. To study this effect, attention has been paid especially to the different tests devised in recent years to show renal function, to the blood-pressure, and to the general condition of the patient. Many articles have appeared in medical literature concerning the value and effects of different types of diets in chronic nephritis. No attempt will be made to review those articles which deal with the effect of diets on the general condition of the patient, nor shall we take up the literature which deals with the effect of diets in which other food elements than the nitrogen have been varied.
