Abstract

The purpose of this work is to take in consideration the equations of forced convection at low speed in the modeling of coupled transfers occurring during the storage of agricultural products in silos. The problem of heat and mass transfer were studied in a vertical cylinder containing a granular product and subjected to a parietal unsteady heat flux. The writing of dimensionless equations with reference variables, related to the physical problem and the boundary conditions, allows a certain number of simplifications leading to an analytical solution which depends on the drying kinetic equation. Experiments conducted on the slow drying for a thick layer, show that the drying occurs gradually from the walls towards the center of the cylinder and from bottom to top, thus they perfectly justify the presence of drying and rehydration fronts.
