Abstract
1. Pyruvic acid and alpha-ketoglutaric acid were estimated in blood and urine of seven marasmic and three normal children. 2. A new electrophoretic method of separation of DANB derivatives of pyruvic acid and alpha-ketoglutaric acid has been described. 3. The pyruvic and alpha-ketoglutaric acid levels in blood were raised when compared to that of normal. 4. The urinary excretion of pyruvic and alpha-ketoglutaric acids were found to be less in the morning samples than in the normals. 5. The nature of derangement of the Kreb's cycle in marasmus is discussed.
