Abstract

A study has been made of the angular distribution of ground state photoprotons from 16O. Proton spectra were recorded simultaneously at 20°, 45°, 60°, 90°, 120°, 135° and 160° to the incident beam of thin-target bremsstrahlung. The excitation energy range between 20.5 and 30 MeV was covered in 100 keV intervals. The energy dependence and magnitudes of the Legendre coefficients of the angular distribution indicate the contributions of E1 and higher multipole excitations in the giant resonance region.
