Abstract

In this paper, the amount of direct, diffuse and global radiation was evaluated in 11 localities of Dobrogea. There were used the Liu-Jordan and Angstrom-Page formulas. During the extended warm season, the north of the region receives a greater amount of solar energy. During the winter, the latitudinal law is verified. An analytical model of a solar converter-heat engine combination was developed. The model takes into account the fluxes of direct and diffuse solar radiation and the optical and thermal properties of the solar receiver. The optimum converter temperature and the maximum efficiency were computed. The best performance occurs during the extended warm season.
