Abstract

Hydrogen maser is an essential frequency reference standard in radio astronomy. This paper provides information on the design and specifications of a new generation of hydrogen maser for the Chinese mobile VLBI stations, incorporating improvements in the microwave cavity-storage bulb, magnetic shields, and atomic beam optics. The performance measurements shows that the frequency stability is better than 1 × 10 −14 for time intervals from 80 seconds to 1 day.
