Abstract
Improving efficiency of the extraction of coal from steep seams depends largely on the need for preventing the development of sources of endogenous fires. The authors have tested in the laboratory the possibility of insulating the level pillars with a rock strip bounded on top and bottom by pliable guard supports with two rows tied with a steel cable. For maintaining the level pillar, the anchor support system should ensure its stability under deformation levels across the course of up to 15% and along the dip up to 8% of the seam thickness. The pillar should maintain the continuity and integrity of the bed.
