Abstract
A total of 201 individuals completed a revision of Allport and Ross' Religious Orientation Scale (ROS) in addition to the Derogatis Sexual Functioning Inventory. A factor analysis of the ROS confirmed previous research by finding two extrinsic dimensions of personal and social orientation. In addition, two intrinsic factors interpreted as representing ethical and intellectual dimensions were also identified. Generally, stronger intrinsic religious orientation was associated with the holding of conservative sexual attitudes while stronger extrinsic religious orientation was associated with the holding of more liberal sexual attitudes and less overall satisfaction with one's sexual relationship.
