Abstract

Dynamic wireless power transfer is an effective way to mitigate the range anxiety of electric vehicles. This paper presents a strip-coupler for dynamic capacitive wireless power transfer application with reduced cost and increased misalignment tolerance. The structure of the proposed strip-coupler and the concept of strip-coupler based dynamic wireless power system is explained. A detailed comparison between prior-art coupler and the proposed strip-coupler in terms of cost, electric fields and misalignment performance is conducted. The power transfer ability of the strip coupler is also calculated.
