Abstract
The results of experiment and 3-and 2-dimensional FEM analysis to the root stress of spur gear including the ratio of contact are presented. For the experimental investigation of the root stress, the normal load are varied from 74.4-545.2 kN/m. FEM analysis is illustrate for a variety of structure model conditions and top clearances. There are appriciable differences between the root stress predicted by FEM analysis including the ratio of contact and experimental value. A set of load distribution factor β govering the FEM analysis and experimental value is a satisfactory agreement. It is found that the value of maximum root stress, occurring at the root surface, is derived from the position of strain-gage at the side of gear.
