Abstract

A stratified gas flow model is established for calculating the conductance of long tubes with constant cross section. It is assumed that the flow of the gas approaches molecular flow in an outer annular region and viscous flow in a central region, with the boundary between the two sets by an adjustable parameter. Using this model, an analytical expression for calculating the conductance in the full pressure range has been derived. The results are in agreement with those of current empirical formulae.
