Abstract

This paper proposes a novel bus regulating strategy that improves the dynamic response of active coil current in order to providing dynamic resonant magnetic perturbation (DRMP). The DRMP power supply, adopting the topology of a thyristor rectifier linked with a resonant inverter, part of the circuit comprising a bus filter, resonant inverter and load, can be simplified as a second-order model when the bus parameters are analyzed. On this basis, a controlled resistive branch with particular open-loop pulse width modulation (PWM) control is designed, installed and experimentally shown to greatly reduce the rising time and overshoot percentage of coil current. Moreover, this strategy has advantages in terms of compactness and economics but the power consumption of the new branch should be considered.
