Die kleine Azidgruppe ermöglicht die Markierung von Enzymen mit sterisch belasteten aktiven Zentren. Staudinger-Ligation mit Phosphin-FLAG überführt 2 in 3, das zum Nachweis der Aktivität solcher β-Glycosidasen in komplexen Mischungen und zur Bestimmung ihres Aktivitätsprofils genutzt werden kann.
