Abstract

This study aims to conduct analysis of the dynamic development of the strategic groups of fourteen Financial Holding Companies (FHCs) in Taiwan in terms of diversification, entry barriers and asset turnover by means of the MDPREF Model of MDS during the 2008-2010 period. The findings show that these FHCs are divided into Leader Group, Follower Group and Laggard Group. Time-axis vector was further applied to the longitudinal analysis of FHCs to have a clear understanding of their annual strategic choices. The study differs from the traditional cluster analysis that cannot show the results in two-dimensional graphics.
