Abstract

The information sector is under constant pressure for change and adaptation. To meet these challenges, the international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the information sector need to work together. The International Federation for Information and Documentation (FID), is taking the lead in establishing a Strategic Ailiance of these NGOs. The final text of a resolution to this effect was agreed at a Consultation Meeting of NGOs held in The Hague, Netherlands, on 11 April 1994, and is being circulated for signature by all the NGOs concerned. Once signed, the resolution will be read in a ceremony at the 47th FID Congress in Tokyo, at which celebrations commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of FID will begin. Includes the full text of the resolution (to be known as 'the Tokyo Resolution').
