Abstract

A mathematically and conceptually simple approach that allows one to recover the Fermi–Walker transport law is proposed. The method is based on defining the Fermi–Walker transport law as the one for which the moving vector undergoes in its instantaneous rest frame only an infinitesimal Lorentz boost. The general Lorentz boosts are represented by 3 × 3 matrices, which significantly simplifies calculations. Also, a comment elucidating that the celebrated formula for the Thomas precession rate is not directly encapsulated in the expression representing this law is provided.
