A Story About Cyclotomic Polynomials: The Minimal Polynomial of and Its Constant Term

Abstract

Summary I present a simple and novel way of computing the constant term of the minimal polynomial of the numbers . The method relies on computations with cyclotomic polynomials exploiting the fact that they are reciprocal polynomials. In addition, I tell a story about some of my experiences learning, teaching and doing mathematics.
