Abstract

The use of a stored program computer as a multichannel radiation analyzer is described. Some of the advantages claimed for this method are (a) great flexibility of function at reasonable cost, (b) an unlimited number of memory locations available for data recording purposes when used with a magnetic tape transport, (c) several cathode ray tube displays of large bodies of data easily available, (d) data transformations and data reduction operations may be performed by this same device, (e) simultaneous input, output, and internal operations may be accomplished during the typical nuclear physics counter experiment.
