Abstract The reaction of Cr(NH3)5NO2+ with CrII(edta)(H2O)2− gives four chromium products: CrIII-(edta)(H2O)−, Cr(NH3)63+, a reddish-violet species which is considered to be a chromium dimer with a +2 charge, and a trace amount of Cr(H2O)(NH3)53+.
