Abstract

The aim of the present paper is concerned with the formulation of a general stochastic bivariate model without specifying the nature of the relationship between two species. The stochastic model is equally well adopted to either the predator-prey type of interaction between two species or to mutual competition. From the bivariate distribution function estimators for the parameters in the stochastic model can be easily derived and a realistic insight into the behavior of the system can be gained.
