Abstract

Summary Observations have been made on the male form of Hemiarthrus abdominalis (Kröyer) (Isopoda, Epicaridea, Bopyridae) with the Stereoscan electron microscope. The male lacks eyes but has two slit-like openings in the dorsal cuticle of the head. The peraeon is clearly divisible into seven somites, each with a pair of robust, sub-chelate peraeopods. The somites of the pleon are fused to form a pleotelson which lacks pleopods and uropods, but has several ‘pores’ in the ventral cuticle.
