Abstract
IEEE Women In Engineering (WIE), South Africa Section commenced the Student Teacher and Researcher/Scientist (STAR) program for high schools from previously disadvantaged backgrounds within South Africa in August 2009. The theme of the STAR program in South Africa is “Launching the path into science, engineering and technology (SET) for the future.”
