Abstract

A REVIEW of the radiologic literature reveals many interesting articles appertaining to a lack of proper understanding by a certain number of clinicians and surgeons of the limitations of and indications for the roentgen ray and radium in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. It would appear from current reports that this misconception of radiology is widespread; that it is not restricted to the rural districts, but is evident as well in large medical centers. Years ago, when little was known concerning the roentgen ray and radium, it was to be expected that few physicians, except those specializing in radiology, would have other than a little practical medical knowledge of these agencies.
