Abstract

A statistical physics approach is used to calculate the thermodynamic functions of uranium dioxide at high temperature when the presence of polarons is taken into account. This derivation explains why the electric conductivity, the thermal expansion and the thermal capacity at constant pressure follow modified Arrhenius type laws with the same apparent activation energy.
