Abstract

Amyloid and beta cell granules were demonstrated simultaneously in glycol methacrylate sections of pancreatic tissue. The method involved the use of the aldehyde fuchsin technique of Mowry to color beta cell granules purple, and the use of the Alcian blue technique of Lendrum to color amyloid turquoise. Solution preparations and staining procedures were easily adapted from existing paraffin techniques.
