Abstract

Although I was loaned to the British Meteorology Office and took instruction from them, Admiral Riiser-Larsen, as commander in chief of the Norwegian Air Forces, was, in a technical sense, my boss. I therefore made a point of keeping him informed, in general terms, about my activities. Gradually a kind of friendship developed between us, based on mutual respect and a sense of sharing in broad outlooks, rather than on social activities and in-service gossip and rumors.
