Abstract

The design and performance of an inexpensive high sensitivity SQUID magnetometer for measurements at low fields over a wide temperature range is described. A top-loading facility enables rapid measurements to be made on small single crystals, thin film and powder HTC samples. Operation is possible either in DC mode with sensitivity of 2*10-12 A m2 and drift of approximately 10-11 A m2 h-1 or in AC mode with sensitivity 10-12 A m2 and negligible drift.
