Abstract

(Anesth Analg. 2015;120(6):1179–1181) Despite a 47% decrease in maternal mortality worldwide since 1990, direct and indirect maternal deaths are still at an unacceptably high, 287,000 deaths per year. The majority of these take place in low-income countries and reports on possible interventions to reduce mortality further are scarce.
