Abstract

Summary The Perfectly Matched Layer (PML) is a method used to terminate a numerical grid without unwanted reflections from outgoing waves. A split formulation of the Nearly Perfectly Matched Layer (NPML) for an acoustic wave equation is presented. The split version of the NPML is suitable for the Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) Method. A proper numerical flux is presented from a set of the split NPML equations.
