Abstract

It was shown that collagens stimulated J aggregation of anionic carbocyanine dyes with sulfonate groups, which themselves can form J aggregates in aqueous solutions. The spectral properties of J aggregates formed in the presence of collagens differ from those of the aggregates in the absence of additives. The J aggregation also depends on the type of collagen used.
